Why minimalism? How to begin?

The more the merrier, am I right? I have been working toward minimalism because at this point in my life, less is more. A few things I have done to minimize:

Get rid of clothes that:
  • I have not worn for 6 months
  • Were too small for me
  • Out of (my) style now
  • Over-worn/worn out
Give away other items like:
  • bags
  • purses
  • wall decor
  • old bedding (got a bigger bed)

I have also minimized my phone because I knew that would make things less stressful and hectic in my daily life. I did this by:

  • Deleting over 100 contacts in my phone of people I no longer talk to
  • Deleting pictures that I know I have saved on Facebook
  • Deleting apps in my phone that are not utilized

I have also started the "buy one thing, toss one thing" method. For example, I just purchased a sweater that I have had saved on my amazon wish list for a while. I bought it because I tossed a sweater a few months ago that shrunk in the wash. I tossed before I bought, but it still counts.

I remember when I was a kid, maybe about five years old, I blew out the candles on my birthday cake and wished that I did not have any toys. I hated cleaning so that would make sense. Now that I am minimizing, I think about this and laugh because maybe I knew more at five than I thought. Yes, minimizing would probably make it so much easier to clean. I mean, it has so far.

This being said, being almost 21 years old and planning on moving, I do not wish to bring tubs and tubs of stuff along with me, knowing there will probably be a few more moves in the works after this.

I hope you enjoyed reading this and you take a few of my tips into consideration if this is something you want to do!

Live Happy :)
